About Compare Remit Rates

An independent, free comparison tool that ranks international money-transfer providers by how much money actually reaches the recipient — not by the advertised exchange rate.

Compare Remit Rates exists to answer one question quickly and honestly: for the money you are sending, which provider gets the most to the other side? Sending money abroad is deliberately hard to compare — a great-looking rate can hide a wide margin, and a "zero fee" transfer can quietly cost more than one with a small upfront fee. We cut through that by comparing every provider on a single number: the amount that lands after the exchange-rate margin and all fees.

We are an independent comparison site. We are not a bank or money-transfer provider, we do not hold or move your money, and we are not affiliated with the services listed. You always complete the transfer on the provider's own website.

Our ranking methodology

We aim to be transparent about how the comparison works:

  • What we rank on: the amount received in the destination currency after the provider's exchange-rate margin and any transfer fee — the best deal is whatever delivers the most.
  • Where the data comes from: live, indicative quotes aggregated from major remittance providers for your exact currencies and amount. Figures update continuously and are point-in-time.
  • Why amounts vary: rates, fees, and promotions change constantly and depend on the amount, the payment method, and the payout method, so the leading provider changes over time and by route. We encourage you to re-check before each transfer.
  • Limits: quotes are indicative; the final figure can differ after a provider's own verification, limits, and current promotions. Always confirm on the provider's site before sending.

Editorial independence & how we are funded

The site is free to use and supported by advertising; we may also earn a commission when you open an account with some providers through our links. This never affects the rankings — results are always ordered strictly by the amount received. Our guides are written and reviewed by Praveen Thummaluru (see the author note below); they are general information, not financial advice.

About the author

Praveen Thummaluru is a software engineer with 14+ years building large-scale payment and data systems. Most recently he worked at PayPal on in-house card-transaction processing and technical reconciliation, and before that spent close to a decade at Amazon (2013–2022) building distributed services and data pipelines across fulfillment, Prime Video, and last-mile logistics on AWS. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Arizona State University and is based in Texas.

Praveen built Compare Remit Rates after running into the same problem every time he sent money abroad: it is genuinely hard to tell which service delivers the most once the exchange-rate margin and fees are counted. This site — and the guides on it — exist to make that comparison honest and simple. He combines a payments-engineering background with first-hand experience as someone who regularly sends money internationally. Connect with him on LinkedIn.
